The Stuff that Matters - July 9th
Welcome to this weeks edition of The Stuff That Matters.
The first week of July is behind us, and with it comes the start of the new financial year. We hope the school holidays are treating you well, especially those juggling kids at home over the break.
Last week’s BLAC_SALT Training session, Winning the Business, was led by Jarrod Carman and hosted by Arthur Proios, and even with a few technical hiccups, the content delivered was top-tier.
Jarrod walked us through the full client journey, highlighting that winning business starts long before the listing appointment. If you missed it, it's now live on the BLAC_SALT / Members page!
And don’t forget, our next National Sales Meeting session is coming up on, Wednesday 16th July at 11:00 am AEST. Session invite is down below, make sure to add it to your calendar!
That’s all from me for now, I will see you next week with more of The Stuff That Matters!

The art of great work begins with ‘Anticipation.’
Anticipating the next move, the next lead, the next call, the next question.
Anticipation comes with experience.
Experience gives rise to confidence.
Confidence moves you to action.
Action comes in the form of asking great questions.
Great questions start conversations.
Conversations provide information.
Information reveals what your client wants and when you know what the client wants, you win.
Get good at asking questions.
Get good at anticipating the signposts for buyers & sellers to act.
Our weekend results are a direct reflection of what we do today.

We’ve all faced the discomfort of change.
Changing professions from hospitality to real estate was one of my biggest. With hindsight, that decision was absolutely the right one, but at the time it was filled with seeds of doubt, fear and anxiety. I would think most feel the same way in their first few months in our industry or for some when the property market changes. A drop in confidence, increased negative media and the shift in urgency reflect a period of ‘change’ and adaptation. For some, this is challenging.
In reality though, the only constant in life and work, is ‘change’ itself.
Change at first is often accompanied with trepidation. This trepidation unfortunately stops some in their tracks. From moving forward, growing or reaching for their goals and dreams. It’s easier to just stand still and do nothing.
But our biggest breakthroughs are often because of the courage to make and face change. To face our fears, to make bold moves, to make ‘uncomfortable’ decisions.
The more we make those bold choices, the more we understand the process - ‘hard at first, messy in the middle, gorgeous in the end.’ When you move forward with the right intentions and with the right energy, everything has a funny way of working out.

Whenever someone says to me, ‘look, it’s ‘hard’ to do this or that,’ I sometimes sarcastically reply with,
‘Hard was getting man to the moon; harder was getting him back!’
It’s my way of saying, don’t give me an excuse, give me a solution.
It’s not life or death. It’s simple, just not easy.
I’m a big believer that hard should not be in our vocabulary. It should be replaced with ‘necessary.’ It’s the only way to move forward.
I dislike excuses.
I dislike the necessity of accountability (but I know it 100% works).
I dislike making mistakes (but I know it’s part and parcel of progress).
If ‘hard’ seems to become an often-used word or thought, replace it with the word ‘necessary.’
"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible." - Francis of Assisi
